    I'm on my second ryobi 18 gauge nailer , thought the first died only to realize later it was bone dry needing oil . it would cough when fired and not drive the nail . The new one has a thinner tip which is amazing when installing moulding , would never go back to the old one with the wider tip . The 16 gauge miss fires contantly my friend has one which he has returned twice . I also own the 18v milwaukee 23 degree nail gun which is fantastic . never misfires . Thanks

    I have close to 10 finish nailer’s air and cordless. I bought the Ryobi a couple years ago doing some delicate trim work on a Victorian house 30 feet off the ground and I’m still using that thing. It was only $89. • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt 2 дні тому

      There is a built in fan on the back of the unit, when not using the conveyor, no fumes, when using the conveyor if your doing wood or other flammables, there’s a little fumes but if you have it hooked to an inline fan like I do, I didn’t smell anything. It’s a smaller work area and your not cutting when using the conveyor but of course yes it’s now opened to be careful in this regard

    100% Massca ripoff. They added 1 bushing to get away with it other than that direct clone

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt 2 дні тому

      I mean you can say the massca ripped off the kreg k4 that was out for years 🤷when people started to copy kreg they moved to a new front paddle clamp with the k5 and 720 after. it’s hard to say, the goingmake and the massca do have more differences, the bit setting guide, different clamp, steel wings on the block etc so it’s not just a bushing addition.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt 2 дні тому

      The backers I put on wall are 1/2” and then the cleats I use are 3/4” thick - there is no wrong answer on the cleat thickness just that thicker will have more surface area in the cleat to prevent twisting off etc

    I just replaced mine almost smoothly. I had a leftover washer at the end and I didn’t really remember taking it off. I thought maybe it was just part of the old spindle because when I moved that to pack it up, that’s when the washer appeared. My machine was cutting pretty good, but seemed to be making a slight grinding sound…but I couldn’t quite figure it out because I always wear headphones to block sound and then this new head has a different sound and less decibels. So I rewatched your video twice to see where I went wrong. It was the washer that goes in right before the key and pulley head. There was no show or mention of that washer in your vid while removing parts, only for a split second during the reassembly does the washer makes its first, very brief, appearance 😅

    Excellent review of these brad nailers. Thank you for taking the time to share. When my Hitachi 16g nailer - gas and battery - stopped working, I decided to go for a battery only model. In the end, I opted for the Ryobi, as I already had a number of tools and batteries. Must say, I've not been disappointed by the performance of this very affordable nailer. When I'm pottering in the garage, I use the 18g air nailer. I took the plunge last year, and bought a small, quiet compressor. The nailer itself only cost me £29, is compact, light weight, and works a treat.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt 5 днів тому

      Thank you and that’s very cool! What size compressor did you get? I have a small pancake in the shop, but it’s mostly for dust clean off. I think I’m gonna have to play with some set ups for some future videos

    • @whomadethatsaltysoup
      @whomadethatsaltysoup 4 дні тому

      I went with the Hyundai 24ltr model. The unit costs around £140 plus the cost of a hose and adaptor. I chose it because it is extremely quiet and still small enough to use on the go if needs be. I did consider a 23g headless nailer, but the cordless options are far too expensive, not to mention heavy and cumbersome. The air options are a fraction of the price, compact, and super lightweight.

    The Kreg 720 and 520 Pro does have a somewhat limited material thickness that they allow, or can you pull up the drill guide part and have material resting on the slanted part? You might not use pocket holes on larger pieces often, though I prefer using pocket holes instead of just toenailing/screwing on 2"×4" material sometimes between rows of shelving to prevent sag on heavy duty storage. Though I guess that Kreg want you to use their XL pocket holes for larger material. You should maybe also mention that Triton and Armor tools have some comparable pocket hole jiggs to Kreg. There's also electric ones like the Kreg Foreman and Castle. Thouch they are three times the price of the 720 it might be worth it if you are doing many pocket holes regularly.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt 5 днів тому

      The 720 and 520 max out at 1.5in material thickness, so anything more and you would want a clamp on unit. I didn’t mention the electrics as it was a beginner video and all of that starts at $350 to the castle at $1500 so not applicable in this video but good options for the pro for sure!

    Good vid. How does the cost of the filament compare to the plywood? Also, how many printers do you need to get you just as fast building it with the wood?

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt 5 днів тому

      On cost , So depends on your infill (how much empty void you leave inside vs solid plastic) I would say that vs plywood it’s a bit more expensive but it’s a different process too. I prefer woodworking but I have come to value the intricate designs and functions you can make with 3d printing and it’s not time consuming as I just hit print and walk away. I use it a lot for tool holders, dust collection (I LOVE my 3d printed Y blast gates) and organizational storage items. From a time perspective sometimes it faster sometimes it’s slower. It’s much faster on smaller jobs, like my chisel holder for me to make it beveled in the same way would take a hr or so but printed in 20min

    Best revuew i have seen. I have a question.. can i map my yard ( about an acre). Then map a seperate area (a fenced area ) and pick it up & set it in the ff4nced area somit will mow. that area. I have a gate their,but i really hate to leave the gate open (my dog might get out). You said something about adding a seperate Luba.if you had a fenced area.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt 5 днів тому

      Thanks! So you will map both as separate areas and then in the software you will map a pathway between them if you want it to go through an open gate otherwise when you want to mow that front area you can manually drive the mower there (or carry it) hit start for that area and your good to go. There are also some gate products out there that open just for the Luba to get through, and a whole bunch of things of people of custom-made, take a look out there. There’s some neat stuff that can get through the gate without letting your dog out.

With this machine when it has a disconnection issue with the RTK or satellite it then switches over to utilize vision to make sure that it’s completing its task area until regains connection.

    another negative about the milw.. cordless nailers is that you have to send it to a factory service centre for service, they don't sell parts parts to independent shops unlike the metabo's which is the same basic design and indie's can repair them.

    Hydraulic is a great tool for heavy duty use. For driving screws in wood or tightening 3/8 bolts, it's amazing. It's absolutely horrendous for anything delicate because it lacks feeling. I'm an electrician, and I use my regular cheap $90 brushed M18 most of the time simply because it has more feeling to it. Regular impact can be used for tightening screw terminals that are typically 6-32 threaded (small screws that could be stripped if over tightened). I can feel when something is getting tight and then stop, or I can impact it with 1 click before stopping. The hydraulic one has no feeling at all; it's super easy to overtighten things and strip out sheet metal screws because it doesn't slow down and stop before impacting like a regular impact does. I carry both a conventional impact and a hydraulic impact. They're both great but have their own special purposes. I once made the mistake of handing my hydraulic impact to an apprentice. He was unfamiliar with hydraulic, so he massively overtightened the screws and stripped them out. He had no idea that he was applying so much force to those screws. The lack of sound makes you think you're just gently tightening something, but you're really tearing things apart.

    The blue pin and the 3D square…can some sticky velcro secure the pin? I cant quite see the pin, so maybe not, but stick on velcro can solve many problems like that.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt 6 днів тому

      Hmm a good thought but I’d say no, if anything’s applied to the shaft of the pin it wouldn’t fit in the guide holes. I was more thinking if it wasn’t made of aluminum but a magnetic metal then a magnet on the square would hold it

    Harbor Freight makes an aluminim benchtop model with a removable part to use. Only difference from the Going Make (or Masca) is no drill collar setting guide on the side.

      @BitnerBuilt 6 днів тому

      Hmm, so I’m not someone who always discounts harbor freight, they do have the occasional gem product, can’t say in all the times I have been there I ever noticed they had a jig (just looked it up on your comment so I see they do now) so wasn’t a purposeful omission just never saw if there before. Do you feel it’s quality made jig?

      @@BitnerBuilt yep, it's quite nice. Only thing I didn't like is the drill bit that came with it dulled very fast. So I got that Kreg single hole portable which came with the drill bit for only a few bucks more than a new bit alone. I now use the Kreg drill bit in the HF setup. Been doing it for years now. May switch to that Kreg pistol grip though for faster clamping and use.

      Another informative tutorial Justin. I’ve just gotten into pocket holes for framing materials for my shop builds and have the Going Make model and as you said if you’re going into cabinet components then it should really be flat on the bench. Looking forward to the next video. Cheers from Down Under 👍🏻🇦🇺

      @@BitnerBuilt I have watched ALOT of shop builds from the states and clearly Kreg is a superior product over there but over here pocket holes aren’t real big but certainly something I’ll use when it’s called for. I think the Going make is good Vevor have one that you get more bits for less coin BUT don’t have dust extraction but I’ve now got both 😂. I’ll keep one set for 2x4 work and the other for cabinetry, I actually used c/s 2 1/2’ chipboard screws with a ratchet driver.

    The Going Make one looks similar to the Massca M2 Pro I purchased a few years ago. Same basic lever-type mechanism to clamp the workpiece, and the Massca is also basically all metal (minus the dust collector port & lever handle cover, of course). It also has the same basic part you can detach for larger workpieces like you mentioned. However, it doesn't seem as convenient to do that as the Going Make you demonstrated. You have to screw a flat metal piece to one end of the part you pull out to provide a lip to position over the edge of your board for placement purposes, then unscrew that plate to make it work in the benchtop format. Otherwise, the Massca is a good unit. I did get their more "portable" unit, the Twin Pocket Hole Jig, which is kind of like the Kreg R3 - same basic concept. The Massca appealed to me more than the Kreg after reading reviews that said that the holes in the Kreg are metal only partway down, but are plastic when you get in a certain amount. The Massca holes have metal lining all the way down, so you don't accidentally drill into plastic if your bit tilts a bit the wrong way. As far as mounting the M2 for benchtop use, I didn't want to screw it directly to my workbench top. So I screwed it to a piece of a 2x4 that is longer than the jig (maybe 18" or so), with the jig being more towards one end of the board. Then I can just use one of my F-style clamps to clamp the "non-jig" end of the 2x4 to my bench. It actually has worked out really well, if I do say so myself. :) The M2 Pro is a bit on the pricier side, but still a good unit, in my opinion, especially with the (virtually) all-metal construction. Thanks for reviewing these. I hope you have a wonderful day! :)

      Oh cool thanks for all that good info! Yea mounting these jigs to boards is the way I like to do it. Will have to look at that massca one!

    • @ST-0311
      @ST-0311 3 дні тому

      Yes, it actually more than just "looks" like the Massca. The Going Make is a Massca clone, so not really so innovative. The Enjoywood version is another clone, and Vevor has yet another. However, all the clones have the advantage of 3 guide bushings as opposed to 2 for the Massca. I have the Enjoywood, but I think Massca should get the recognition for designing an excellent system. I agree with Justin, that Massca system is the best for most users regardless of brand.

    I’ve got the k5 and it’s been a workhorse. I figured when it gives up the ghost, I’d go with the Massca, but the goingmake seems to get a lot of good reviews for about $40 less. Hopefully I’ve got a few more years left in the k5 lol.
